Everyone in Irish society needs to face up to evils of the society we created in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Bridget’s story is heartbreaking, but there are so many others too. This was the nasty side of De Valera’s Ireland that outsiders could barely believe existed.

A lady called Bridget replied to my blog on the Tuam babies. What she wrote broke my heart. http://wp.me/p3MdWm-1g8
Thanks to Donal O Keefe and everyone else for reeporting and following up on the #800 dead babies in Tuam. Let’s build a new Ireland that treats children with respect. The state should provide non-religious education and leisure facilities in every community
Thanks to Donal O’Keeffe @Donal_OKeeffe · and to
the lady called Bridget, who replied to his blog on the Tuam babies with this true story of how the Nuns at the Bessborough home for single mothers refused to allow her to go to her son’s funeral when he died at six weeks 54 years ago.
Why?
How is that Christian?
How did they justify such hypocrisy?
